As temperatures soared to 32°C outside, the atmosphere inside the Hotel Alpina Alpendorf remained cool and focused as the Predator Austrian Open reached the business end of the tournament. After eight intense rounds, the field has been narrowed to the last 16, with Germany leading the charge with six players still in contention—including legends like Ralf Souquet and Stefan Kasper.
However, one major name missing from the final phase is Joshua Filler, whose run came to an abrupt end at the hands of fellow German Ugur Turku. In a shocking upset, Turku dominated the match from the start and posted a commanding 11-5 win, matching his best-ever Euro Tour result. He now faces Roman Hybler in a bid to reach uncharted territory.
“I put some pressure early and kept the lead,” said Turku. “Now I’m just focusing on the next match. Anything can happen at this stage.”
🏆 New Blood Chasing Glory
Also advancing is rising star Felix Vogel, who dismantled Emil Andre Gangflot 11-3 in a clinical performance. The talented German has twice finished runner-up on the Euro Tour and is hungry to claim his maiden title.
“It was a long day—five or six matches—but I’m happy to be in the last 16,” said Vogel. “Emil couldn’t find his rhythm, but I kept my focus. Now I want to go all the way.”
Aleksa Pecelj of Serbia also impressed, overpowering Szymon Kural 11-3 with a barrage of break-and-runs. The Serbian has come close before and believes he’s ready to finally lift the trophy.
“I started strong and kept control,” Pecelj noted. “My game is there—I just need a little luck and to stay calm. Hopefully, this is my time.”
🔥 Thriller on the TV Table
In one of the day’s most high-stakes clashes, Sanjin Pehlivanovic edged past Austrian favorite Max Lechner 11-9 in a tense, high-quality affair that featured nine break-and-runs from the Bosnian talent.
“Max played great, but I’m feeling really good this week,” said Pehlivanovic. “If I keep breaking and shooting like this, I believe I can win it.”
